The 49-year-old, Paul Goodman was detained on Monday and charged with possession of a child po**ography, creating child po**ography, and making child pornography available.

Goodman serves as an education assistant at St. Ann Catholic Elementary School on Barton St. in Hamilton. Cops say he is also a scout leader with Scouts Canada. The charges stem from a probe that was launched after cops get a referral from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.

Pat Daly, chair of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) stated it’s “shocked and deeply disturbed” by the charges and “continue to keep those affected in our prayers and thoughts.” The educational assistant was instantly put on unpaid leave, HWCDSB asserted to CBC in an email.
The board is cooperating with cops and providing support to the staff and students, including through its compassionate care crisis response team. A similar message was shared in a letter to the school community from St. Ann principal Tina Fricano and Daly on Tuesday morning. Asked if the HWCDSB is embarking on its own review of how the situation could have occurred, HWCDSB stated, “our own probe will be paused until the criminal probe is completed.”
